STRESS & Holidays

STRESS & Holidays

Christmas is a time of joy and giving, but to get there you have to send out cards, do shopping, battle long lines, wrap presents, ship packages, make travel plans and well sometimes be  with people you really don’t like that much.  It causes Stress.  Remember that Stress is FEAR of not getting something accomplished the way you want it.  The first step at AVOIDING holiday stress is to make a list of everything you have to do and then develop a plan to get everything done early.  Put you plan on your calendar with time blocked out for each item on your list.  This eliminates the fear of forgetting something and the fear of not getting done in time.

Another way to Avoid stress is to say NO once in a while.  You can’t go to every Christmas Party and visit every relative over the Holidays.  Give yourself permission to say NO.  Take turns with relatives or schedule one part of the family before Christmas or after Christmas.  The idea is to enjoying being with family, not trying to set a record of how many places you can get to in one day.  One last thought for avoiding Holiday stress is to delegate or pay someone to run some errands for you. A friend of mine actually does that for a living.  (Blue Grass go to Girl) and others will run your errands, ship your packages and even shop for you.  You will enjoy your Holidays much more if you don’t STRESS over them.   <>< Mark
